  • more often, indexes released by the large subscription website are available for free, via the State Record Office, for example, NSW Teachers' rolls, 1869-1908. The index is free to search with a nominal fee for photocopy of the information - search the index here
  • the registered wills of NSW are to be digitised, copies of the handwritten wills 1800-1924 and typed copies of wills 1924-1952 will be made available online by FMP - read the full media statement
  • for those of us with ties to Queensland, the long wait is over with a new search and online order facilities introduced for BDMs in QLD - you can read more here
  • NLA Digitised Newspapers continues to lead the way as the most progessive and accessible historic newspaper web-site in the world with now over 8.8million pages available to search, correct, label and tag - see the coverage here
  • FamilySearch continues to add Australian content to its online search facility. The latest is Tasmania Miscellaneous Records 1829-1961 which includes criminal and occupational records - read more here
  • Australasia through a lens - an online exhibition of images from the UK Commonwealth Office, comments are sought - see more on the National Archives website
  • NSW BDM office releases a smart phone App for their Family History Indexes for iPhone/iPad & Android - you can find it in the AppStore or on GooglePlay - it works very well - see more on the BDM website
  • Help the Australian National Archives to transcribe and reformat digital copies of documents to enable searching and indexing easier - by doing so you will be rewarded with copies of publications or files - see arcHIVE for details
